Let us invite you to participate in the II All - Russian Conference with the international participation “Problems of studying and preserving the plant world of Eurasia”, dedicated to the memory of Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation Leonid Vladimirovich Bardunov (1932-2008).

The conference will be held on September 11 - 15, 2017 in Irkutsk and in Kyren, a township in the Republic of Buryatia in the territory of the Tunkinsky National Park in the picturesque foothills of Eastern Sayan.

“Problems of studying and preserving the plant world of Eurasia”

Leonid Vladimirovich Bardunov (1932-2008) is an outstanding domestic botanist (bryologist, florist, phytogeographer), Doctor of Biological Sciences, professor, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, who made a great contribution to the study of flora of vascular plants and bryophytes of Siberia and the Far East. Leonid Vladimirovich was born in Vladivostok. While studying at the Biology and Soil Faculty of the Irkutsk State University (1950-1955), L.V. Bardunov took part in the botanical expeditions of one of the first-rate florists of that time, M.G. Popov. After graduation, he entered the postgraduate study at Komarov Botanical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR to L.I. Savich-Lyubitskaya. After graduation from the postgraduate study, Leonid Vladimirovich returned to Irkutsk, where he worked all his life at the East Siberian Biological Institute of the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences, which was transformed to the Siberian Institute of Plant Physiology and Biochemistry in 1965.

Leonid Vladimirovich was the first in Siberia to compile the determinant of leafy mosses, which has not lost its relevance down to here . In Irkutsk, he created the largest in the Asian part of Russia bryological herbarium. He is the author of more than 200 publications, 24 of which are monographs or chapters in monographs. Under the academic advising of Leonid Vladimirovich more than ten Candidate of Science Dissertations were defended. The genus Bardunovia, the leafy mosses species Orthodontopsis bardunovii and two vascular plants species - Sorispermum bardunovii, Megadenia bardunovii were called in honor of L.V. Bardunov.

In 2010, the All-Russian Conference “Problems of studying and prese rving the plant world of Eurasia” was held in the memory of Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation Leonid Vladimirovich Bardunov (1932-2008), where participated the leading academic botanists and environmentalists from Russia and abroad.
